Environment and Climate Change Educator
Galapagos Islands
The Association of Interpreting Guides of the Galapagos National Park (AGIPA) in Ecuador has requested the support of a Peace Corps Response Volunteer (PCRV) to serve as an Environment and Climate Change Educator. In 2005 AGIPA obtained a grant to build and equip a library in the town of Puerto Ayora. The “Library of Galapagos and The World” is the only community library in the entire Archipelago. The library’s activities include workshops on literacy, general education, conservation, mental health, and self-care, and creating an environment conducive to self-research. The PCRV will be a key contributor in achieving the library's mission and goals, with a main task of contributing to the environmental education program, to share knowledge about climate change and build community resilience. A secondary task will be to help AGIPA with capacity building in fundraising proposal development.

Forest Conservation Technician
Equador
Fundación Pachamama in Ecuador has requested the support of a Peace Corps Response Volunteer (PCRV) to serve as a Forest Conservation Technician. In the last decade, the Achuar territory has undergone internal changes and increased pressure on their natural resources, with limited government support. With the arrival of the "Balsa Fever" during the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic, many merchants arrived in search of this wood, which led to a series of environmental, cultural and social impacts on the Achuar communities. Over the coming months and years, the Sharamentsa community wants to expand their efforts to more communities, to take on-site carbon measurements to strengthen the processes, as well as forest inventories and process analysis and implementation. They also need to develop a greater capacity to tell the stories of all the actions that both the communities and the Foundation generates.

St. Vincent & Grenadines
The School Safety Unit of the Ministry of Education and National Reconciliation in St. Vincent and the Grenadines has requested the support of Peace Corps Response Volunteers (PCRVs) to serve as Disaster Risk Reduction/Climate Change Teacher Trainers. Management and Capacity Building Specialist
Georgia
Civil society organizations (CSOs) and non-governmental organizations (NGOs) in Georgia have requested the support of a Peace Corps Response Volunteers (PCRVs) to serve as a Management and Capacity Building Specialist. CSOs/NGOs have an important role in Georgia’s political, economic and social life. The majority of CSOs/NGOs have clearly defined missions, as well as the flexibility to support different target groups and operate in various fields of development. Although CSOs/NGOs have flexibility and clear missions, they do not always actively engage in strategic planning, organizational development, and other similar activities. CSOs/NGOs need additional skills to do so and are challenged by the lack of finances and sustainable growth opportunities. Only a few social enterprises that can help CSOs/NGOs to have sustainable programming are operational in Georgia, and CSOs/NGOs also have challenges with staff retention and professional development.

MESTI aims to strengthen environmental education's practical application and foster a generation of environmentally conscious individuals equipped to address global sustainability challenges.
