The Department of Energy & Environment (DOEE) is hiring an Environmental Protection Specialist to focus on environmental education and community engagement. This position will lead the Community Stormwater Solutions grant, Kingman Friends and Family Day, and co-lead the Anacostia Environmental Youth Summit.

Summary

The mission of the Department of Energy and Environment (DOEE) is to protect and restore the environment, conserve natural resources, and improve the quality of life in the District of Columbia. As the nation's capital city, the District will become a model of environmental protection and sustainable environmental practices. In partnership with other District agencies, the federal government, business groups, non-profit organizations, and residents, the department will help instill environmental awareness through innovation and best practices. 

The Environmental Protection Specialist position is located in the Partnering and Environmental Conservation Branch, Watershed Protection Division, Natural Resources Administration, Department of Energy and Environment (DOEE). The incumbent will serve as an Environmental Protection Specialist and will lead the Community Stormwater Solutions Grant program, lead community engagement strategy and events at Kingman Island, support environmental education programs, including the 4th grade Nature Near Schools and 5th grade Overnight Meaningful Watershed Educational Experiences (MWEE) programs, and co-lead the annual Anacostia Environmental Youth Summit.
