Summary
The Boating Division has statewide, seasonal Boating Education Assistant (BEA) positions available. The duty station of these positions is DEEP Marine Headquarters located at 333 Ferry Road, Old Lyme, CT, however, the job duties are field-oriented and duty stations are throughout the state.
Boating Education Assistants
- Needed May 15- October 15
- 40 hours per week. Work hours may vary daily. Monday through Friday with some evening and weekend work required.
Roles and responsibilities include:
- Interacting with and educating boaters at boat launches throughout the state about clean and safe boating practices including pumpout locations, Aquatic Invasive Species information, No Discharge Areas, safety equipment and life jacket use;
- Conducting vessel safety checks as developed by the U.S. Coast Guard Auxiliary;
- Encouraging people to become Clean Boaters by having them sign the Clean Boater Pledge and discussing the Clean Boater Action Guide;
- Closing the parking lot if it becomes full;
- Reporting the condition of the boat launch;
- Light maintenance at the boat launch;
- Submitting weekly summaries detailing the use of the boat launch;
- Assisting with public outreach events, as needed; and
- Other duties, as assigned.
Compensation Information
$15.69 - $19.00 per hour
