Key Responsibilities
Lead Educational Materials Development for SciEd
- Work with UCP Education and Training Center (ETC)/SciEd leadership, sponsors, and collaborators to envision educational solutions and approaches (i.e., long-range planning needs, assessment of new educational programs and projects) that improve learning. Determines production budget requirements.
- Oversee educational design projects and educational designers and manage the development of educational materials including reviewing work and recommending improvements, facilitating decision-making, overseeing evaluation needs, and disseminating materials to national and international audiences.
- Provide oversight of training and professional development on educational materials.
Participate in Business Development
- Seek, propose, and/or report new funding opportunities to SciEd leads.
- Support and/or lead collaborative proposal development activities as the principal investigator or a lead in the proposal.
- Collaborate with university and other community partners to develop educational resources and professional development proposals and plans that align with UCAR’s strategic goals and/or sponsor broader impact requirements.
- Develop and administer grant proposal budgets, with administrator support, that fall within the program area.
- Interact regularly with sponsors on grants and/or contracts as project principal investigator.
Member of SciEd Leadership Teams
- Represent UCAR externally and internally.
- Participate in long-range strategic planning.
- Participate in overall program management, including decisions about hiring, project management, and budgets.
- Oversee and/or write reports and publications, and prepare and deliver presentations at conferences.
- May oversee and contribute to promotional materials, press releases, blogs, social media posts, and articles about educational resources. Contribute to science communication efforts including the SciEd K-12 e-newsletter and social media.
Who We’d Love To Join Our Team
Successful candidates will ensure their application materials speak to the following criteria:
Education & Experience
- Master’s degree in a relevant academic discipline (education, educational or instructional design, or STEM field);
- 5 years of relevant experience;
- Or equivalent education and experience (e.g. Bachelor’s degree and 10 years relevant work experience).
- PhD in education or STEM field can also be beneficial at this level.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Expert knowledge of inclusive and accessible STEM educational materials design, development, and processes to create educational materials.
- Demonstrated experience in web-based educational material design and development for a diverse K-12 audience.
- Advanced knowledge of best practices associated with teacher professional development.
- Advanced knowledge of science disciplines relevant to UCAR research and/or Earth system science.
- Demonstrated skill in written, oral, and visual communication for K-12 educators and their students.
- Ability to work with diverse groups of people (educators, scientists, educational specialists, administrators) in accomplishing program goals.
- Demonstrated skill in overseeing, coordinating, and monitoring the work of team members to accomplish project tasks and milestones on time and within budget.
- Knowledge of supervising staff including goal setting and performance evaluations.
- Demonstrated success in applying for grant proposals to federal awards and/or foundations including proposal development, implementation, and closure.

$99,011 - $123,764
