Interpretive Host

Position details: Latta Nature Preserve is seeking an interpretive host to facilitate guest experiences at the Quest nature center facility in Huntersville. This position will be responsible for visitor engagement and customer service. This is a part-time permanent position with up to 29 hours per week. Hourly pay starting at $20. Work includes weekends and some evenings. Typical schedule is Monday, Wednesday, Thursday 9am-5pm and Sundays 1pm-5pm.

Responsibilities:

• Greet and provide orientation/information for visitors to the nature preserve.
• Design interpretive and self-guided activities and programs.
• Assist with programs and special events.
• Assist with nature center duties including facility rentals and animal care as needed.

Qualifications:

• Enrollment in, or completion of a bachelor’s degree in relevant field (environment, education, or recreation)

OR

• Two years relevant work experience in a customer-focused educational or environmental field

• Willing to learn and take chances
• Able to obtain Certified Interpretive Host within first year of employment
