Work in a fun, fast-paced water quality laboratory that contributes data to the state's dataset. This information is used to guide environmental policies at the local and state level and is used by scientists globally.

Summary

The Lake Sunapee Protective Association, a non-profit environmental organization, is seeking motivated interns to fill the positions described below for the busy season this year. LSPA, in cooperation with the N.H. Department of Environmental Services, has one of the most extensive water testing programs in New England, with its own laboratory at Colby-Sawyer College in New London, New Hampshire. The water quality programs include the entire watershed. LSPA also works to correct known environmental problems and prevent future ones by working with state and town governments, property owners, contractors, and concerned citizens.  Data from the LSPA testing program is sent directly to the NH DES Volunteer Lake Assessment Program, where it is evaluated and used to make important decisions concerning the watersheds of more than 25 lakes in the area. There is a stipend for the summer’s work, plus the possibility of housing.  Send resume, contact info for 3 references and a cover letter stating your interest in and qualifications for the internship to Ms. MacConnell at teriko.macconnell@colby-sawyer.edu

Compensation Information

The position runs from May 28, 2024 to August 29, 2024. A successful candidate will need to have some flexibility with weekly hours, but in general, it will be 20 hours per week. The stipend for the summer's work is $2500. There is the potential for summer housing, as well.
