The Sawtooth National Recreation Area is a stunning 756,000 acre playground in central Idaho. Summary

The Sawtooth Interpretive & Historical Association is seeking applicants to fill 8 summer positions. They are briefly listed below with links to complete job descriptions.   • Naturalists – (job training position) work as part of team to operate the Redfish Visitor Center & Gallery, provide daily interpretive programs, staff trailhead portals, and more! Hiring up to 5 positions.
  • Historic Specialist – (job training position) works with the Museum Lead to operate the Stanley Museum, provides visitors with natural history information, creates a cultural history exhibit, and works on preservation projects. Hiring 1 position.
  • Museum Lead – (entry level position) leads daily operations and collections at the Stanley Museum with the historic specialist. Hiring 1 position.
  • Summer Programs Coordinator – (entry level position) manages daily operations at the Redfish Visitor Center & Gallery, assists with Stanley Museum operations, and supervises summer crew. Hiring 1 position.

Compensation Information

All positions include free, shared housing through our partnership with the Forest Service at the Stanley Ranger Station or the Sawtooth Valley Work Center. Housing includes utilities (water, power, gas). Housing units are furnished and include appliances and basic kitchenware. Valued at ~$600/month (typical rental costs in Stanley range from $500-$1100/month).

  • Naturalists: ~$1200/month
  • Historic Specialist: ~$1200/month
  • Museum Lead: ~$1600/month
  • Summer Programs Coordinator: ~$2000-$2400/month depending on experience
