Approximately 4-10 hours/week. Stonewall Farm (SWF) per diem educators lead visiting grades pre-K-5 field trip groups and private parties in experiential learning activities. This position is trained and supported by the Education Director.

Summary

STONEWALL FARM: SWF is a non-profit educational farm in Keene, NH. Our mission is to teach and demonstrate ecological sustainability and cultivate community through education and engagement with local food resources and our shared natural environment. We host students year round, including summer camp, which takes place on our 125+ acres of farm, field, forest, and wetlands. Our programs provide farm and nature  based, experiential learning for children ages 3-18.

 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: 

  1. Lead chaperoned groups of children in experiential activities around the farm.
  2. Seasonal programs include touring our forest and garden areas in varying weather conditions and interacting with our farm animals. 
  3. Lead 2-hour weekday field trip groups. Field trips typically take place between 9a-2p. Program training and curriculum provided. 
  4. Lead 45-minute educational programs for occasional private weekend birthday parties. Program training and curriculum provided.
  5. Create a safe, positive and nurturing environment for all participants.
  6. Program set-up and clean-up when necessary.

 

QUALIFICATIONS: 

  • Experience working with children, preferably in an outdoor or group setting.
  • An interest or background in agriculture, environmental science, education, or related field.
  • Ability to work outdoors in a farm environment in varying conditions.
  • Desire to teach children about our mission in groups of up to 25.
  • Ability to interact with families, the public, and other educators clearly and professionally.
  • Creative, flexible, enthusiastic, and self-motivated.
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to work around children for up to 4 hours including sitting, standing, climbing stairs, lifting up to 25 pounds, and moving over uneven terrain.
