Live and teach on the Cape Cod National Seashore. Help students to notice, wonder, and make connections while exploring the dunes, forests, and marshes that are our backyard. Build community for small groups of students by being part of a team that creates a safe learning/teaching space with clear expectations and boundaries. Teach 4 days in every 5 day week and 3 evenings for each 4 night program. Be part of helping celebrate our 50th year being part of the school experience for every 5th grader from our program districts.

Teachers Naturalists develop and present experiential, place based lessons aligned with the MA Education Frameworks. Program also includes: Nightwalk, Group Dynamics/SEL activities, and Pizza Making.  Additional duties on a rotating basis include assisting with meal preparation and serving, bedtime duties, supervision of group on short bus trips to various natural and historical areas of the outer Cape, and the overall care and maintenance of the facility. 

Work week during residential programs is Monday 8 am through Friday 2 pm.  Each Teacher/Naturalist has one day (9:15-4:15) and one evening (after 7 pm) off during the work week.  Weeks that are day programs only have daily hours Monday- Friday 8 am to 4 pm.  Weekends and school vacations are free.

Compensation Information

Salary:  Salary is based on number of program days in the entire school year and is paid bi-weekly . ( Approximately $20,300)

 Private room provided for the term of the program (no vacation lock-outs).  Board is provided when students are in residence and fully stocked kitchen is open for staff use at all times.

Staff are part of the Barnstable County Retirement program.  Health, Life, and Dental Insurance are available.
