Middle School Theater Teacher
Begins August 2023

Summary

The Wheeler School, a co-ed, N-12 independent day school with city and farm campuses serving approximately 800 students in the Greater Providence and Greater Boston areas, is seeking a theater teacher to join our Middle School.

Ideal candidates for faculty and staff positions at Wheeler are people with a sense of humor, warmth, and humility. They are excellent communicators, with empathy for others and an ability to listen and respond with good intuition and with the help of colleagues. They are ambitious and hard-working, committed to supporting students by offering help and creating new opportunities. When developing curriculum and programming, our faculty and staff members are curious, striving each year to stretch and grow, to implement new ideas that improve the Wheeler experience. In the end, they love to spend their days with young people, and enjoy all that the Wheeler community - creative, energetic, dynamic, and diverse - has to offer.

We are looking for candidates who are able to teach Middle School theater in grades 6-8. Successful candidates will possess a strong background in theater and teaching in the middle school range, a deep commitment to the experience of the student, a demonstrated interest in innovation, an ability to teach a range of learners, and strong collaborative skills. The position also involves serving as an advisor to middle schoolers, collaborating with a team of teachers on extracurricular programming, and directing our annual middle school play or musical. This position reports to the Director of the Middle School. As a teacher at Wheeler you will become part of a dynamic and passionate faculty and work with talented and engaged students every day. Bachelor’s degree required; master’s degree preferred.

Interested candidates should email a resume and cover letter to the Middle School Director, Vanessa O’Driscoll, at vanessaodriscoll@wheelerschool.org and cc careers@wheelerschool.org by March 1.
