Why Join Us?

We are the nonprofit partner of Great Basin National Park. As part of our small team, you will have the unique opportunity to engage students in the thrill of scientific discovery while helping to promote understanding and appreciation of our national parks. You’ll work in a beautiful natural environment alongside park rangers and scientists while fostering the next generation of conservationists.

Key Responsibilities:

Curriculum Development: Design, create, and deliver educational modules that align with Next Generation Science Standards (NGSS) for middle and high school classrooms. Focus on the ecological impacts within the Great Basin ecosystem and utilize Park research data and subject matter experts to inspire deeper understanding of scientific topics.

Elementary Outreach and Field Trips: Run educational programs for elementary students and organize field trips to Great Basin National Park, helping younger students connect with the Park’s ecosystem and natural and cultural heritage.

Program Scheduling and delivery: Market, organize, and deliver Great Basin National Park Foundation’s educational programs, which include elementary – high school opportunities delivered either in-person, remotely, or through Great Basin National Park field trips. Tailor delivery methods to meet the needs of different students, with emphasis on inspiring youth to connect to the natural world.

Underserved Audience Engagement: Further positive relationships with underserved audiences, including local tribal communities, through the Foundation’s Great Basin Explorers program. Lead camping trips to Great Basin National Park in the summer months.

Program Evaluation: Conduct evaluations with all participating teachers and classrooms to assess program success and identify areas for improvement for future years.

Social Media Management: Manage Great Basin National Park Foundation’s social media accounts (Facebook and Instagram) to build awareness and support for Great Basin National Park.

Qualifications:
