Duties

Some of what you will do: 
 

• Develop capital budget submittals. Assist the EE5 with project scoping and project cost estimations for proposed 10- year capital project plans.
• Analysis and design of potable water systems, wells, treatment facilities, reservoirs, sewer systems, pumping stations, and on-site sewage systems.
• Prepare project design reports for submittal to the Authorities having Jurisdiction for permits or approval.
• Assist with the selection/recruitment of specialty consultants on selected projects. 
• Assist in the negotiation and preparation of work scopes and fees and preparation of consultant agreements. 
• Assist with management of consultant agreements to ensure deliverables are consistent with project/contract scopes. 
• Coordinate with other State parks departments including but not limited to planning, environmental, archaeology, horticulture, operations, and maintenance as required for project developments. 
• Negotiate with other public entities, regulatory agencies, utilities, and public and private project stakeholders concerning easements, services, regulatory permitting, and other agreements/requirements.

Qualifications

Required qualifications: 
Qualified candidates will meet one of the following criteria:
 
 

• Bachelor’s degree with major study in one of the following engineering fields: sanitary, water resource, civil geotechnical, environmental, chemical, structural, or related field, AND two (2) years of experience in environmental engineering AND registration as a professional engineer in Washington state AND a valid driver’s license. 

OR
 

• Eight (8) years of professional level experience in environmental engineering AND registration as a professional engineer in Washington state AND a valid driver’s license. 

Additional relevant experience may substitute for the required education on a year-for-year basis.
 
 Preferred Qualifications: 
 

• A master’s degree with major study in one of the following engineering fields: sanitary, water resource, civil, geotechnical, environmental, chemical, structural, or related field. 
• Knowledge of state government and Parks rules and regulations.
