Summary

The Massachusetts Department of Conservation and Recreation is hiring Seasonal Visitor Services Supervisors (VSS) at the following parks: 

  • Scusset Beach State Reservation, Sagamore MA, June 2 – September 2 
  • Wompatuck State Park, Hingham MA, June 2 – September 2 
  • Nickerson State Park, Brewster MA, beginning as soon as possible through 10/19 
  • Pilgrim Memorial State Park, Plymouth MA, beginning as soon as possible through 10/26 

COMPENSATION: $21/hour 

BACKGROUND: The Department of Conservation and Recreation manages one of the largest and most diverse state parks systems in the nation and protects and enhances natural resources and outdoor recreational opportunities throughout Massachusetts.  
 
The Department of Conservation and Recreation seeks qualified applicants for the positions of Visitor Services Supervisor (VSS). VSS’s provide programming, historical interpretation, and environmental education for the visiting public. The VSS leads programs and tours, staffs Visitor Centers, provides informal interpretation, assists with community events, and other various duties as assigned.   
 
DUTIES: Under general direction of a supervisor, the VSS manages the day-to-day interpretive services programs which include: 

  • Staff visitor or nature centers 
  • Maintain an on-going effort to actively market and promote the Park’s interpretive programs.  
  • Coordinate weekly natural and cultural history programs 
  • Work with audiences of all ages, including pre-school age children, families, adults, seniors, as well as school groups and people with disabilities. 
  • Submit reports as required. 
  • Must be able to work as part of a team with operations staff and rangers. 
  • Assist with operations needs (clean bathrooms, sell passes, answer phones, tidying Visitor Center exhibits and displays, litter pick up and other duties as assigned)

Compensation Information
