Summary
Qualifications: B.S. or equivalent experience required. Love of being outdoors in all kinds of weather on the great outer beach of the Cape Cod National Seashore and a background/experience in teaching, natural history interpretation, marine science, wildlife biology or general ecology strongly recommended. Experience with youth, residential education, and facilitating team building preferred. Candidates currently holding a CDL are strongly encouraged to apply. Current CPR & First Aid certification must be attained by start of program.
Responsibilities: Teacher/Naturalists lead 3 hikes/lessons per day for their teaching group. Local environments Beaches, Dune Forest, Kettle hole Pond, Freshwater Swamps, & Saltmarsh are our classroom. Nightwalk, Group Building Activities, Pizza Making, and Games are also part of every week.
Teachers share responsibility on a rotating basis for helping with meal preparation and serving, bedtime duties, group supervision during short bus trips to various natural and historical areas of the outer Cape, and the overall care and maintenance of the facility.
Work week during residential programs is Monday 8 am through Friday 2 pm. Each Teacher/Naturalist has one day (9:15-4:00) and one evening (after 7 pm) off during the work week. Weeks that are day programs only have daily hours Monday- Friday 7:30 am to 4 pm. Weekends and published school vacation weeks/days are free.

Compensation Information
Salary: Salary is based on number of program days in the entire school year and is paid bi-weekly.
2026-27: 160 days at $139 daily rate, paid biweekly over 20 pay periods, $1,112.00 per pay period. Private room provided for the term of the program. Board is provided when students are in residence and kitchen is open for staff use.
