The SGSO Network is seeking a part-time (~20 hours/week) fully remote Programs Specialist to support in the implementation of our key programs that foster peer learning for school garden professionals. The Specialist will conduct most day to day tasks for a number of programs, including our webinars, newsletter, Google forum, peer learning communities and more! There is also the opportunity to travel to 1-2 conferences depending on availability. Part time PTO and benefits included.

We provide professional & leadership development, resources, and platforms to connect for members serving at a school, district, regional, state, or national level. Key Responsibilities:

  • Implement monthly webinars, helping to design webinar topics and series, coordinating with webinar presenters including the disbursement of stipends, marketing the webinar to the community, providing technical support during the webinar as well as follow up.
  • Develop, write and publish e-newsletter every other month focused on a school garden programming theme
  • Organize and send out all ad-hoc communications in addition to bi-monthly newsletter, as needed.
  • Moderate online Google forum, including approving new members and responding to posts. 
  • Manage social media accounts, conducting various educational campaigns or posting as needed. 
  • Manage Peer Learning Communities.
  • Support members via email and social media. 
  • Support the ED in collecting data and feedback for various programs.
  • Travel to 1-2 conference gatherings and support the execution of School Gardener gathering events 
  • Other tasks and projects as determined.

 Required Qualifications:

  • Passion for garden-based education, agricultural education, equity, and access for all students.
  • Commitment to equity, inclusion and justice for all peoples.
  • Strong interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills.
  • Incredible project management skills including attention to deadlines, details, and organization
  • Excellent customer service
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and Google Suite.
  • 2+ years of experience in program coordination or a related role OR 2+ years of experience supporting school gardens, garden-based education or agricultural education (both preferred) 
  • Eligible to work in the United States 
  • Reside in the United States 

Desired Qualifications: 

  • Multilingual
  • Knowledge of the rich landscape of the school garden movement, including the entities (non–profits, school districts, government agencies, etc) that support garden-based education at school nationwide 
  • Social media and writing skills 
  • Experience working with a team in a remote office setting

Compensation Information

This is a part-time fully remote position with an expectation of 20 hours per week at $28.85/hour. All major holidays, 1 week winter holiday and 1 week paid time off will be offered. A remote work stipend and part time benefits will also be provided, based on the employee's preferences.
