Summary

Responsibilities:

  • Design and implement an engaging and rigorous math curriculum aligned with Manzanita School's educational philosophy.
  • Actively participate in professional development opportunities, faculty meetings, (including ones related to nature connection) and school events to contribute to the overall growth and success of the school community.
  • Teach high school math courses including Algebra, Geometry, Algebra 2, Statistics, and Life Skills Math, adapting instruction to meet the needs of individual students..
  • Create differentiated learning experiences to support students with varying abilities and learning styles, including those who may need additional assistance or enrichment opportunities.
  • Foster a collaborative and inclusive classroom environment where students feel empowered to explore mathematical concepts, ask questions, and participate actively in their learning.
  • Utilize a variety of instructional strategies to enhance student understanding and problem-solving skills.
  • Assess student progress regularly through formative and summative assessments, provide constructive feedback, and communicate student progress to parents and colleagues.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to integrate interdisciplinary connections and project-based learning experiences into the math curriculum.
  • Serve as an advisor or mentor to students, providing academic support, guidance, and encouragement as they navigate their high school and middle school journey.

Qualifications:

  • A deep love for nature and a commitment to integrating environmental education into the curriculum to cultivate a sense of stewardship and appreciation for the natural world among students.
  • A passion for inspiring students to explore their potential, think critically, and become agents of positive change in their communities and the world at large.
  • Bachelor's degree in Mathematics, Education, or related field (Master's degree preferred).
  • Valid teaching credential or certification Based on a candidate's experience, this requirement can be waived.
  • Minimum of 2-3 years of teaching experience, with a focus on high school mathematics; both high school and middle school teaching experience is highly desirable.
  • Demonstrated passion for teaching and a commitment to fostering a supportive and inclusive learning environment.
  • Strong knowledge of math content and pedagogy, with the ability to effectively communicate complex concepts to students of varying abilities.
  • Excellent communication, collaboration, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to establish positive relationships with students, parents, and colleagues.
  • Flexibility, adaptability, and a growth mindset, with a willingness to embrace new challenges and opportunities for professional development.

Compensation Information

Job Type: Part-time

Pay: $16,000.00 - $24,000.00 per year

Expected hours: 7 per week
