Delaware Seashore State Park is seeking a creative and motivated person to schedule, develop, and present interpretive and recreational programs. This position is a year-round position and will consist of 35-45 hours/week, from March through November, and 29.5 hours/week December - February.

Summary

Delaware Seashore State Park is seeking a creative and motivated person to schedule, develop, and present interpretive and recreational programs. This position is a year-round position and will consist of 35-45 hours/week, from March through November, and 29.5 hours/week December - February. 

Responsibilities:

  • Research, develop, schedule, and present interpretive programs involving coastal ecology and similar local history.
  • Lead outdoor recreational programs such as surf-fishing, beach driving, and kayaking
  • Schedule all private group programs, outreach presentations, and school field trips.
  • Develop promotional materials such as fliers, signs, brochures, and e-newsletters
  • Serve as a lead on the planning committee for the park's signature special events
  • Keep Delaware Seashore State Park social media outlets active and engaging
  • Assist in presenting historical education programs involving maritime history and the Indian River Life-Saving Station Museum.
  • Assist with training & scheduling of other educators & volunteers
  • Assist with gift shop and park permit sales on an as-needed basis

Qualifications:

Required

  • Bachelor’s degree (or pursuing a degree) in Biology, Environmental Science, Natural Resources Management, or related field
  • Minimum 1 year experience presenting interpretive programs
  • Must be willing to work weekends and 1-2 nights per week
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Proficient in MS Word, PPT, and Excel
  • Exceptional organizational skills
  • Excellent customer service skills in a fast-paced environment
  • Must have valid driver’s license with less than 6 points

Preferred

  • NAI Certified Interpretive Guide or teaching experience
  • Current First Aid/CPR certification
  • Current certification in kayaking through an accredited program (ACA, American Red Cross, etc.)

Pay rate: $14.50-15.00/hour for qualified candidates.

This position has a flexible schedule that will include weekdays, evenings, mandatory weekend hours and does not provide benefits such as vacation, sick leave, medical/dental insurance, or overtime pay.
