Summary
The Outdoor Science Educator will work closely with OEA Program Directors to plan and deliver summer camp programs to children and youth between the ages 5 to 12 years. They will be responsible for delivering natural science lessons and activities and guiding campers in exploring and playing in natural settings. This position works as a teammate to other OEA summer camp staff and volunteers and reports directly to the Program Directors. This is a seasonal position. Camps run from the end of June through August, 2024. Up to five, 40-hour work weeks are possible.
Summer camp programs take place at natural areas in Yamhill County, Oregon. Programs are entirely outdoors. Work will consist of moving around the program sites on uneven terrain and walking through creeks. Camps take place in all but hazardous weather conditions (heat, rain, snow).
Outdoor Science Educators will be expected to participate in a training day in mid June. Work weeks will be Monday-Friday from 8:00am-4pm each day; 40 hours per week. Campers will be onsite from 9:00am-3:00pm. Program schedule is subject to change. 2024 camp weeks are: June 24 - 26; July 8-12; July 15-19; July 22-26; Aug 5-9; Aug 12-16; Aug 19-22.
