Summary

Organization: The Jefferson County Marine Resources Committee (MRC) is an advisory group to the Board of County Commissioners and part of the regional Northwest Straits Marine Conservation Initiative. The MRC comprises largely of volunteer members who work with local and regional partners to protect and restore the marine and nearshore environments of East Jefferson County. Position Overview: The Marine Resources Committee (MRC) Program Assistant will assist the Program Coordinator in planning, implementing, and tracking MRC projects, including helping to organize volunteer workdays and education outreach events. This is a part-time, paid internship with 720 billable hours. Work hours and times will vary depending on seasonal projects and events, including some weekends and evenings. It is our goal that by the end of their term, the Program Assistant will have gained valuable job skills, problem solving abilities and diverse experiences that prepare them for the next step in their career.

Duties/Responsibilities:

• Assist with organizing volunteer workdays and educational events for MRC projects, including creating and sharing promotional materials for recruiting volunteers/attendees, creating and racking event registration pages, providing logistical support for hosting events, and tracking event details for reporting

• Regularly update volunteer tracking system, recording volunteer hours and new volunteer information

• Support development of project and volunteer data management systems

• Provide logistical support for hosting monthly MRC public meetings

• Assist in creating an informational manual for onboarding new MRC members

• Assist with preparing project reports

• Participate in MRC and NWSC monthly meetings, as available

• Other duties as assigned

Compensation Information

$15,840 (720 billable hours at wage range: $22.00-22.00 per hour), plus mileage reimbursement ($0.655 per mile); No benefits. One hour of paid sick leave for every 40 hours worked.
