Summary

Utah State University Extension invites applications for an Executive Director and Extension 12 month, tenure track or professional practice faculty position. The Executive Director is expected to provide overall leadership for all aspects of the Swaner Preserve and EcoCenter. In addition to being an administrator, Extension faculty develop, implement, evaluate, and coordinate research-based educational programs to enhance quality of life for youth and adults. Extension faculty also recruit, train and supervise volunteer leaders and serve as a liaison between local clientele, other resource agencies, and Utah State University administrators, faculty, and programs. This position reports directly to the Director of the Extension Agriculture and Natural Resources Department. This Extension position includes university responsibilities and is based in Park City. An office will be provided at the Swaner EcoCenter in Park City, Summit County, Utah. 

The position requires knowledge of areas such as ecology, environmental education, and museum operations, and must have a proven track record of leadership and administration as well as experience in grant writing and fundraising. We welcome candidates with diverse interests and experience related to these areas.

Rank will be commensurate with experience, qualifications and current rank. Appointment opportunities include Extension Assistant or Associate Professor (tenure track), or Professional Practice Extension Assistant Professor (non-tenure track).  A Master's degree is required for Extension Assistant or Associate ranks. A Bachelor's degree and substantial professional experience is required for the Professional Practice Extension Assistant Professor

The estimated start date for this position is February 1, 2024.

As part of the benefit package with this position there is potential for housing in an 896 square foot three bedroom and two bath historic farmhouse located approximately 1 mile from the EcoCenter. The house is located at the Swaner farm, a site used by the organization for a number of other uses.  This house is owned by Utah State University and is potentially available for the Executive Director to live in as a taxable benefit.
