Summary
Sequoia and Kings Canyon National Parks represent an extraordinary continuum of ecosystems arrayed along the greatest vertical relief of any protected area in the lower 48 states. The parks include the highest, most rugged reaches of the Sierra Nevada Mountains and feature the world's largest trees - giant sequoias. Both parks provide a wealth of recreational opportunities, including 835 miles of trails, wild and scenic rivers, alpine lakes, rugged peaks, caves, and vast wilderness. For more information on the parks, visit www.nps.gov/seki.
Sequoia and Kings Canyon National Parks, located in central California, are hiring seasonal education technicians to research, design, and conduct a diverse collection of curriculum-based programs (e.g., classroom programs, in-park programs, distance learning) for area youth. Education technicians will also conduct informal interpretation at visitor centers, field locations, and surrounding communities, and complete a wide range of short- and long-term projects.
Two weeks of training will be provided, covering area orientation, subject matter development, resource issues, and interpretive/pedagogic skills. This training will be combined with other professional development opportunities tailored to align with the incumbent’s experience and goals. This is a uniformed position with the National Park Service. Positions run from early November to mid-May.
Interested applicants must apply through www.USAjobs.gov (search for Sequoia and Kings Canyon National Parks or visit https://www.usajobs.gov/job/803576400). The application deadline is Wednesday, August 21.
