Summary
Under the supervision of the Ohio Sea Grant Extension Program Leader, this role will lead, develop, coordinate, promote, and evaluate education and outreach initiatives that align with the Ohio Sea Grant and Stone Lab mission. Serve as lead of education program applying developed industry knowledge and advanced understanding of concepts, principles, and technical capabilities to manage a wide variety of projects. Guide education programming for Ohio Sea Grant and Stone Lab to a broad audience including undergraduate and graduate education, teacher education, K-12 curriculum development and programs, fellowships, informal education for the general public, special training programs for industry and much more.
Lead Ohio Sea Grant partnership with the Sea Grant Center for Great Lakes Literacy (CGLL); works with CGLL members and/or Ohio Sea Grant and Stone Lab staff to develop and manage new and existing research-based educational initiatives to increase Great Lakes literacy of community members of all ages both in-person and virtually; serves as program expert on state- and national-level science standards; leads the development of new or revisions to existing education and outreach materials, curricula, programs, and interpretive displays for visitors of all ages at state-wide events, Stone Laboratory, and in the classroom; implements and identifies areas of opportunity for practices that foster a more diverse, equitable, accessible, and inclusive environment, considering both internal and external guests and community members; represents Ohio Sea Grant and Stone Lab at meetings and professional conferences (e.g., National Marine Educators Association, Great Lakes Sea Grant Network), Ohio State University-based campus events, and other events as needed; works with community partners to coordinate and execute education and outreach events that engage formal and informal educators, and the public with hands-on Lake Erie science; leads and/or contributes to education and outreach grant proposals to increase Great Lakes literacy in coordination with Ohio Sea Grant Extension Educators and other Ohio Sea Grant staff.
Full-time, regular position. Preference is for this position to be located in the northern Ohio area within drivable distance to the island ferry transport. This is a hybrid remote work position.
Minimum Required Qualifications:
Bachelor’s Level Degree is required with a major in environmental education, environmental interpretation, or science education; a minimum of 6 years of combined experience in education, teaching, or outreach; experience developing program education and outreach materials.
Desired Qualifications:
Master’s degree in education, experience with program evaluation and grant writing, experience aligning programs to state standards, knowledge of Lake Erie and the Great Lakes, knowledge of Sea Grant and Extension programs, and demonstrated ability to translate organizational needs into diversity, equity, inclusion, justice, and accessibility strategies.

This job profile is a Continuing Education Specialist 4 (S4 level) position on the career roadmap. This position range is $51,000.00 - $67,000.00/annual salary. The salary paid to an individual will vary based on multiple factors, including but not limit to, education, years of experience, internal equity, etc.
