Summary
Are you interested in a position where you can make a meaningful impact towards maintenance and care of Raleigh’s Parks Raleigh Parks is seeking qualified candidates for the the Assistant Manager – Rental Coordinator (part-time) position!
This position's functions as part of the Outdoor Recreation Team at Lake Wheeler Park, while also offering the opportunity to work for a nationally recognized organization in a growing, creative, diverse city. The City of Raleigh Parks, Recreation and Cultural Resources Department, or Raleigh Parks, system boasts approximately 10,000 acres, including 220 parks and open spaces; 120 miles of greenway trails; 4 lakes; and 4 nature preserves; We have over 425 full-time staff and employ nearly 1,800 part-time and seasonal staff annually during peak spring, summer, and fall seasons. We are home to several prominent universities and world-class cultural institutions.
The Assistant Manager – Rental Coordinator (part-time) is responsible for assisting park management with administrative and reservations tasks, and support facility programs. This role also involves coordinating park activities, managing marketing communications, and overseeing part-time staff in the absence of full-time park management.
This role works an average of 25 hours per week as a Permanent Part-Time position, contributes to the Local Governmental Employees' Retirement System (LGERS) at a 6% employee contribution, is additionally eligible for health benefits and participation in 401k/457 plans.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Greet patrons and answer general questions.
- Facilitate reservations with patrons for site rental facilities.
- Coordinate and oversee the scheduling park programs and events.
- Assist with park services.
- Maintain accurate records and documentation related to park operations.
- Multi-task and reprioritize frequently to manage various administrative and operational tasks effectively.
Typical Qualifications
Education and Experience
High School Diploma or GED and some college-level coursework in Outdoor Recreation-related field of study such as Parks Recreation and Tourism, Natural Resource Management, or similar field directly related to assignment.
OR
An equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job such as those listed above, unless otherwise subject to any other requirements set forth in law or regulation.
Licensing and Certifications
- Valid North Carolina Driver's Class C license with a satisfactory driving record, or ability to obtain within 60 days of hire.
- Successful candidates will obtain and maintain a City of Raleigh Driver’s Permit.
Preferred Qualifications
- One year of professional experience in field directly related to assignment.
- Successful candidates should have experience working outdoors with recreation amenities, customer service, and working independently.
- A candidate should possess excellent verbal and written skills, be able to communicate instructions in a clear, understandable manner, and possess knowledge of risk management practice in outdoor recreation venues. Positions in this class typically require fingering, grasping, talking, hearing, seeing and repetitive motions. The employee is occasionally required to stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, climb, balance, reach with hands and arms, pull, push, and lift.
Position Requirements
The candidate must be at least 18 years of age.
Heavy Work
The employee must frequently lift and/or move at least 50 pounds.
Working Conditions
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to outside weather conditions including extreme cold; extreme heat; noise; vibration; hazards, atmospheric conditions, and works in indoor or office environment.
Local Government Employee Retirement System
Employees in regular, recurring positions that require 1,000 scheduled work hours or more per year, whether these positions are full-time or part-time, are required to participate in LGERS. N.C. state laws require both the City of Raleigh and the participating employee to contribute to LGERS. Employees are required to contribute 6% of their total annual earnings on a pre-tax basis; LGERS establishes local government rates each year for City contributions. This position is LGERS eligible.
