The Assistant Education Director works closely with the Education Director to coordinate and maintain current Wade Institute programs, provide programmatic and administrative support for these programs, and assist with developing new initiatives. This is a full-time position based in Quincy, MA with some travel throughout Massachusetts.

Summary

The Wade Institute for Science Education is a not-for profit corporation whose mission is to promote the teaching of participatory, inquiry-based science, mathematics and technology/engineering education at the K-12 levels in partnership with museums, science and technology centers, cultural institutions, institutes of higher education, STEM industries and business, and other STEM related organizations. The Wade Institute provides professional learning programs and resources for K-12 formal and informal educators.

Job Responsibilities

  • Under the guidance of the Education Director design, implement and manage Professional Development programs for K-12 educators including:
  •      -Professional Development Institutes (graduate level courses)
  •      -Customized Professional Learning Services
  •      -OpenSciEd Professional Learning programs
  •      -Focus Workshops
  •      -Other professional development programs as assigned
  • Provide instruction for programs, both virtually and face-to-face.
  • Contribute to marketing and program promotion.
  • Organize and present conference presentations, webinars and other outreach opportunities 
  • Oversee the Wade Institute’s collaborations with partners to coordinate teaching, logistics, 
  •  marketing and record keeping for Professional Development Institutes and workshops.
  • Develop and maintain Schoology (or other online platforms) structures for Wade Institute Programs.
  • Serve as the liaison for the Wade Institute to institutions of higher education providing graduate credit for Wade Institute graduate courses
  • Serve as a Wade Institute’s representative as assigned to state and regional STEM education networks and professional associations
  • Assist with mailings, record keeping and other office tasks as required

Qualifications

  • Masters Degree in education, science or related field
  • Experience providing professional development for in-service teachers
  • Familiarity with the Massachusetts Science and Technology/Engineering Framework and/or NGSS
  • Formal and/or informal teaching experience using inquiry based, hands-on methods
  • Previous program management experience 
  • Excellent writing, editing, and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to work both independently and in a team
  • Familiarity with Schoology or other on-line learning platform a plus
  • Familiarity with Excel and Microsoft Word
  • Willingness to travel to programs throughout MA

Compensation Information

Salary:  $50,000 - $55,000 depending on experience
