NAAEE seeks a full-time Digital Communications Coordinator to join the Communications and Technology Team. Major Functions:

The Digital Communications Coordinator informs and supports NAAEE’s communications and marketing efforts, including social media, our family of websites, and outreach to members and supporters. This individual will work closely with the Communications and Web Team on a variety of digital and communications projects. The Coordinator will support communications efforts as needed for all NAAEE programs, including but not limited to membership and fundraising campaigns, ee360+, 30 Under 30, the Global Environmental Education Partnership (GEEP), conferences, eePRO, and more.

General communications duties include:

  • Helping support the implementation of NAAEE’s communications and outreach strategies
  • Writing and editing engaging copy for the web, social media, newsletters, and other communication needs, and drafting related imagery and video
  • Working closely with the Communications & Data Specialist to support all social media efforts for NAAEE
  • Reviewing and posting content, as well as engaging with audiences, on eePRO, NAAEE’s online community for environmental educators
  • Providing audience support via eePRO@naaee.org emails
  • Assisting with maintaining press and media records and building media lists
  • Assisting with editing subtitles and captions for videos and webinars 
  • Supporting the consistent use of NAAEE’s Justice, Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion Guide and recommended practices for inclusive, equitable, accessible, and respectful communications
  • Supporting NAAEE’s use of technology, including websites and databases and various other platforms
  • Supporting communication and digital needs for the NAAEE annual conference, held virtually and in-person on alternating years
  • Ability and willingness to work occasional evenings and weekends as needed to support the NAAEE Annual Conference and other special events

Skills and experience required:

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher (A degree in one or more relevant fields, including journalism, environmental education, marketing, communications, and/or conservation is preferred); experience in both communications or marketing AND environmental education is a plus!
  • 2–4 years of communications experience
  • Excellent writing and communication skills, including project management, creative writing, editing, and proofreading
  • Creative design skills for drafting graphics and video 
  • Experience drafting, posting, and managing social media accounts
  • Ability to work efficiently, with flexibility, creativity, initiative, positive energy, and good humor
  • Ability to work independently as required but also to work effectively as a team member; ability to juggle multiple projects, meet deadlines, problem solve, and exercise tact and diplomacy
  • Cultural competence and the ability to work with individuals representing a diversity of backgrounds and perspectives
  • Ability to represent NAAEE to external partners, members, funders, and other stakeholders

Additional experiences that are helpful include familiarity with Drupal or another open access content management system and some experience with CiviCRM or similar customer relations management system. It would also be helpful if candidates have used social media management and scheduling applications such as Hootsuite, or other similar applications, as well as Canva, Adobe CS, or other graphic design and video editing software.

Compensation Information

Salary: $42,000 to $52,000 and commensurate with experience
