Summary
This position’s regular duty station is the North Carolina Museum of Natural Sciences at Whiteville.
The primary purpose of the Coordinator of Education is to manage the development, implementation, and coordination of natural science educational programming for the NC Museum of Natural Sciences at Whiteville, serving Pre-K through adult audiences, which includes public events targeted to all ages.
This position may occasionally supervise contract educators, part-time educators, interns, education volunteers, and AmeriCorps volunteers.

Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and execute onsite, offsite, and virtual curriculum-based programs, and workshops.
- Develop learning materials, experiences, special events, and programming targeting school-aged audiences and their families.
- Maintain indoor and outdoor facilities and learning areas of the museum.
- Assist with animal care for Whiteville living collections.
- Other facility support as needed, such as emergency cleaning, preparation for hurricanes, and basic landscaping.
- Apply best practices and techniques in education in both the formal and informal settings.
- Communicate effectively both orally and in writing with a wide variety of audiences.
- Oversee work activities and provide direction to assigned staff, if any.
- Handle live animals and use them in educational programs.
Compensation Information
Recruitment Range: $33,272 - $47,445
