Trees For Tomorrow (TFT) is pleased to offer 1 Environmental Education Internship for the summer of 2024. From June 3rd to August 9th (limited flexibility), this program helps interns improve their public speaking skills while learning to work with group participants of all ages (from 4 yrs old to adults). Programs are taught both in a classroom and in the scenic outdoors of the Northwoods. Interns will be guided through learning how to develop, prepare for, and coordinate public programing as well as receive professional development opportunities in environmental science-related fields. TFT’s programs often use equipment like canoes and items for archery so interns will be trained how to use this gear and how to instruct others to use it. TFT programming also utilizes animal artifacts as well as live education animals which interns will be taught to manage and handle. This internship provides candidates the opportunity to learn from professional naturalists while getting the chance to live and work in a place that is typically a vacation destination for most.

Qualifications:

18 years of age or older
Current student of, or recent graduate from, a college program, or individuals interested in an education career
Positive attitude and ability to work well with others
Willingness to learn and teach in classroom and outdoor settings using equipment like canoes
Ability to communicate with a variety of ages and backgrounds.
Willingness to work ~40 hours per week, including evenings and weekends.
Willingness to work with animal artifacts such as skulls, pelts, and related taxidermy.
Ability to walk 5 miles over rough terrain with a 20-pound pack.
Valid driver's license (encouraged) and willingness to drive a 75-passenger van with canoe trailer.
Appreciated, not required: Current First Aid/CPR certification and/or Lifeguard certification.

Compensation Information
