Are you an educator or camp professional looking for part-time work during the school year and full-time summer camp fun? Are you interested in working everyday at one of Massachusetts' most picturesque farms (only 20 minutes outside Boston) with a state of the art teaching kitchen? Then look no further. Farmer, Forester, Chef! Camp at Powisset Farm in Dover is looking for a seasonal Camp Director to start as soon as possible. Winter and spring work with a flexible and partly remote schedule includes registration management, hiring, curriculum development, and overall camp planning. Full-time, on-site work begins mid-June for staff training with camp sessions running June 24-August 23.

Who We Are: 
Farmer, Forester, Chef! is a day camp for ages 6-11 located at historic Powisset Farm in Dover, MA. Powisset Farm is a 109-acre working CSA vegetable farm with a vibrant learning garden, barnyard animals, culinary program for all ages, scenic trails, engaging education programs, and deep history that make this a special place to visit and work. 

At summer camp, we have an interdisciplinary, hands-on approach to learning in the fields and forests, the children’s gardens, the barnyard, and the teaching kitchen. Our unique camp connects campers to the land and the natural systems that support us all, while spending time outdoors, exploring, making friends, and having fun.

Who You Are: 

You are a born leader! You are highly organized, creative, approachable, inclusive and fun. You command respect and function well under pressure. You know when to ask questions and when to get your manager involved. You are a wonderful communicator with children and parents alike. You love being part of a high functioning, friendly team. 

Essential Functions: 

  • Hire and train camp staff 
  • Daily supervision and safe keeping of campers 
  • Management and supervision of 8 summer Camp Educators (Counselors), and the camp Culinary Instructor and Culinary Assistant 
  • Create the schedule of activities for 46 campers per week 
  • Support the weekly activity modules created and implemented by Camp Educators; provide resources and feedback to empower Camp Educators to create thoughtful educational and fun activities focused on environmental, agricultural and culinary education 
  • Administrative duties including registration software management, records organization, parent communications, and preparation for camp inspection and 8 weeks of camp 
  • Manage medical emergencies and behavioral concerns as they arise 

What We Need From You:  

Availability: 

  • 20 hours per week January 15,2023 - May 1, 2023
  • 30 hours per week May 1, 2023 - June 15, 2023 
  • 40 hours per week June 17 - August 23
