Inland Seas Education Association (ISEA) seeks an enthusiastic, hard-working individual to join our team as a Seasonal Educator Deckhand. This position is responsible for delivering educational programming and serving as a crew member aboard the traditionally rigged tall ship schooner, Alliance. The 2024 season (early May through mid-October) will include delivering day-sails and overnight programs around the Great Lakes, including the Grand Traverse Bay region of northern Lake Michigan, the Straits of Mackinac, and Detroit River.

Summary

Inland Seas Education Association (ISEA) seeks an enthusiastic, hard-working individual to join our team as a Seasonal Educator Deckhand. This position is responsible for delivering educational programming and serving as a crew member aboard the traditionally rigged tall ship schooner, Alliance. This position requires participation in a DOT-approved drug testing program. The 2024 season (early May through mid-October) will include delivering day-sails and overnight programs around the Grand Traverse Bay region of northern Lake Michigan, the Straits of Mackinac, and Detroit, MI. Compensation Information

Compensation:

  • A stipend of up to $12,000 is available for completion of the full 24 weeks.
  • Sea Service documentation is available for those interested in continuing in the professional maritime industry.
  • ISEA can also support students earning internship college credit through their university.
  • Room & Board: On-site, shared dormitory housing is reserved and available for non-local candidates at our Suttons Bay campus. Aboard the ship, it is customary for lunch to be provided on work days, and for all meals to be provided on overnight transits and when working at away ports (summer).
