Work in the beautiful lakes region of New Hampshire as a Naturalist at Squam Lakes Natural Science Center. Teach environmental education programs to youth, families, and adults featuring our collection of non-releasable, native, live animal ambassadors, and hands-on activities. Summary

Position Purpose and Summary
The Naturalist/Lead Guided Discoveries Instructor position serves as a naturalist from September to mid-June, and Lead Guided Discoveries summer day camp instructor from mid-June through August. Naturalists are responsible for teaching school programs onsite, offsite, and virtually, as well as public programs such as live animal presentations in our trailside amphitheater, live animal outreach programs, afterschool programs, homeschool programs, educational lake cruises, and environmental education programs for families. Education Staff members also assist with exhibit design, develop education programs, serve on staff committees, complete independent projects to support education programs/mission, and contribute to special events. Science Center Guided Discoveries nature day camps encourage discovery, learning, and outdoor play in and about the natural world for children ages 4 through 14. Our camps are active and emphasize time spent outdoors. The Lead Guided Discoveries Instructor is responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations of the summer camp, supervising and coaching the Guided Discoveries Instructor and Intern, planning educational activities, leading day camps, communicating with parents, handling and presenting live animal ambassadors, and performing other tasks that support the safety and success of the program.

Compensation Information

Compensation 
This is a full-time position, 40 hours per week, with an annual starting salary of $37,000. Schedule includes evenings and weekends. Anticipated start date is March 1, 2024.
