Zoo Knoxville's Education Department is seeking Zoo Camp Instructors, Assistants and an Inclusion Specialist for our fun and popular summer day camp program. Our science and conservation-focused camps for 4-17 year-olds run Monday - Friday from 9am - 3pm with a few 3-day weeks. Camps strive to create conservation leaders by creating opportunities for learning to inspire and empower community action for wildlife and wild places.

Summary

All positions will need to attend one day of training during Spring Break Camp, the week of March 11-15 as well as the trainings on May 4th and 11th. 

Zoo Camp Instructors are responsible for prepping and teaching day camps. Campers are grouped by age: 4-5, 6-7, 8-10, 11-13 and 14-17. Formal or informal teaching experience is preferred. 

Zoo Camp Assistants work with the Zoo Camp Coordinator to help camp run smoothly, and may fill in for instructors if needed. Formal or informal teaching experience is preferred. 

Zoo Camp Inclusion Specialist will work with camp instructors and campers to make sure all campers have the best experience possible. Experience working with children with special needs is preferred.

Compensation Information

Seasonal position at $13.25/hour. Zoo Knoxville has reciprocal relationships with many local attractions for discounted or free admission for employees.
