Summary

A Wenatchee River Institute (WRI) Field Educator will work with us towards our mission of connecting people, communities and the natural world. The Field Educator will work with WRI’s Youth Programs and Community Programs. This can include instructing youth day camps, teaching in person school programs, traveling to regional schools to deliver lessons, leading seasonal nature walks, supporting community workshops and events, and developing lessons and activities for field education programs.

The primary focus of the Field Educator is to implement youth education programs at WRI. The following list of job duties is not an exhaustive list of all tasks associated with the position. 

Responsibility: Program Implementation & Operations

  • Teach hands-on, natural science education programs in classrooms, outdoor settings, and virtually on our campus and at off-site locations
  • Manage participants’ physical, social, and emotional safety/risk
  • Collaborate with Community Programs and Youth Programs staff
  • Teach programs independently and as part of a team
  • Assist and support volunteers and high school or college interns
  • Operate and maintain lab equipment and field equipment

  • Assist in development of lessons and activities for education programs

Responsibility: Program Sustainability

  • Support Wenatchee River Institute mission and community outreach
  • Support evaluation of impact of Field Education Programs
  • Share campus stewardship responsibilities
  • Take photos of programs and manage for social media and marketing use

Compensation Information

Salary range: $19.00-$22.00/hour. The starting pay rate for the Field Educator will be based on a number of factors including: education, ability to instruct program in another language, and experience.

Hours: 32-40 hours/week
