The Aldo Leopold Nature Center (ALNC) is seeking adaptable, creative, and engaging environmental education interns to assist our summer camp programs from June through August.

Summary

ALNC is a non-profit educational organization guided by Aldo Leopold’s land ethic, with a mission to engage and educate current and future generations, empowering them to respect, protect, and enjoy the natural world. ALNC serves more than 50,000 children, teachers, members, and families annually through year-round programming that includes field trips, camps, a nature preschool, and public and private events.

Summer environmental education interns assist education staff in coordinating, preparing, and teaching experiential nature programs for 4-10 year old campers. Primary duties include:

  • Develop skills in activity development, program implementation, and behavior management.
  • Independently supervise campers during educator lunch and planning breaks.
  • Facilitate aftercare with other interns.
  • By August, have the ability and confidence to plan and lead a full week of camp.
  • Collaborate with other staff and help create a cohesive camp community.
  • Maintain a reliable attendance record throughout the summer.
