The Aldo Leopold Nature Center (ALNC) is seeking adaptable, creative, and engaging educators to teach our summer camp programs from June through August!

Summary

ALNC is a non-profit educational organization guided by Aldo Leopold's land ethic, with a mission to nurture children, their well-being, and environmental sustainability through connecting and learning in nature. ALNC serves children, teachers, and families through year-round programming that includes field trips, camps, a nature preschool, and public and private events.

The primary responsibility of this position is the planning and delivery of experiential nature programs for 4-13 year old campers. Environmental educators are responsible for the physical and emotional well-being of the children in their care and are expected to facilitate a welcoming environment that is safe, inclusive, and fun for all participants. Additional responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Independently supervise a small group of children during their camp session.
  • Design and lead hands-on activities that take into account camper ages, interests, and abilities.
  • Assess group dynamics and apply appropriate behavior management techniques.
  • Collaborate with other staff and help create a cohesive camp community.
  • Maintain a reliable attendance record throughout the summer.

Ideal candidates will be able to manage a full-time weekly schedule, work well in a team environment, communicate effectively with others, and represent ALNC in a professional manner. Flexibility, initiative, the ability to problem solve, and a sense of humor are a must.
