The Interpretive Program Evaluator position is funded under an Advancing Conservation through Empathy for Wildlife (ACE) grant from the Woodland Park Zoo. This grant was awarded to the International Crane Foundation to develop interpretive content and programming that fosters empathy for our resident cranes at the Cranes of the World, our visitor experience in Baraboo, Wisconsin.

The Interpretive Program Evaluator will work with our Conservation Education Department to assess empathy-related interpretive content designed through our ACE grant. A series of evaluation methods including QR codes, in-person surveys, digital surveys, and observation will be employed. The successful candidate will manage all metrics including QR codes, surveys collected, and analysis. They will also be responsible for curating a report of these findings and advise on revisions to interpretive content to achieve desired goals and objectives.

Summary

The International Crane Foundation (ICF) is looking for a detail-oriented team member to join our Cranes of the World Program team in the role of Interpretive Program Evaluator. Over the past 50 years, ICF has grown from the dream of two college students to a world-renowned conservation effort to save the world’s cranes and the flyways and habitats they depend on.

This position has a set duration of approximately March 1, 2024 – December 20, 2024. (43 wks.) This is a non-exempt hourly position with an average of 34-36 hours per week and an hourly pay range of $17.00 - $19.00 depending on experience.

Position Summary:

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Design a variety of evaluation tools to measure visitor’s empathy for our resident flock.
  • Evaluate results and report on the findings.
  • Manage metrics of our on-site QR codes, to determine interest in specific crane species and conservation projects.
  • Analyze metrics and advise on programming adjustments to achieve desired outcomes and objectives.

Qualifications Required:

  • Experience with evaluation design and analysis. Proven experience in positions that provided surveying and/or data management.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office 365 Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint) and Adobe Acrobat.
  • Ability to treat confidential information with appropriate discretion.
  • Experience with managing complex projects to completion.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Graduate student or equivalent work experience.
  • Proven experience in positions that provided surveying and/or data management.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office 365 Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint) and Adobe Acrobat.
  • A passion for wildlife conservation and nature.
  • Background relating to wildlife conservation, education or biology preferred.
  • Previous outreach experience.
  • Proficiency with basic Microsoft Office programs, including Word, Excel, Zoom, Microsoft Teams, and PowerPoint.

  • Ability to operate computer and phones.
  • Ability to communicate with visitors of diverse backgrounds. Communication will include both one-to-one communication and small and large group communication. Communication is both verbal and written.
  • Must be able to stand for 2-4 hours while conducting surveys.
  • Occasionally required to lift and move items up to 20 pounds.
  • Occasionally required to move throughout the building and the site. 
  • Ability to work remotely, in a stationary position for meetings and projects.

 

Work Environment:

  • Office type setting with time spent in Visitor Center collecting data.
