Zion Adventures connects travelers to their destinations and has been doing so for almost 30 years! One of the ways we do this so successfully is to have and maintain a fleet of specialty vehicles that really do the job well. This role is to ensure that our fleet is up to the task, including general DOT requirements, maintenance, and small repairs. Along with facilitating recurring fluid changes and larger service problems with a local mechanic.

Summary

Current Fleet:

  • 10, 100 Series Toyota Land Cruisers
  •  5, Ford Econoline 15 passenger vans
  • Ford F250
  • Mitsubishi Fuso 12 passenger custom Overland Tour Vehicle 
  • John Deere Compact Utility Tractor (various hydraulic implements)
  • Various trailers

Qualifications:

Required:

  • ​Minimum of 23 years of age 
  • Must have a current, valid, and clean drivers license
  • Current First Aid and CPR certification, or Wilderness First Responder
  • Professional and responsible attitude 
  • Willingness to learn and teach
  • Strong spoken and written communication skills
  • Ability to work in a team-oriented environment
  • Works and stay on-task with minimal supervision
  • Applies problem-solving skills

Responsibilities:​​

  • Schedule shuttle drivers and appropriate vehicles for daily operations
  • Maintaining DOT rules and regulations
    • Safety equipment, registration, driving restrictions, etc.
  • Facilitate the appropriate maintenance of vehicles through local mechanic 
  • Identify and facilitate resolution of vehicle problems
    • Fix small, manageable problems
    • Schedule and deliver larger problems to local mechanic
  • Facilitation of vehicle recovery 
    • On road
    • Off-road 
  • Informing company vehicle users of appropriate usage and maintenance expectations 
  • Managing vehicle inventory to ensure safe and proper maintenance
  • Facilitating meaningful, helpful, intelligent, and pleasant conversations with co-workers
  • Attending staff meetings outside the work day (approx. 1 per month)
  • Driving courteously
  • Transporting clients as safely, comfortably and efficiently as possible
  • Avoiding risks which could harm passengers, the vehicles, or the environment
  • Running efficient shuttles without creating the hurried feeling
  • Solving problems with grace and efficiency
  • Operating single run and back-to-back morning shuttles 
  • Maintaining the shuttle vehicle for cleanliness, fueling, and informing Maintenance Coordinator of possible problems and needed repairs
  • Being able to change flat tires on trips, possibly along unimproved roads
