Position Description: Assistant Teaching Professor in Conservation Education within the School of Natural Resources at the University of Missouri. This is a 9-month, full-time, non-tenure-track endowed position with teaching and scholarship of teaching responsibilities. The position will also be affiliated with the Institute of Fisheries, Wetlands and Aquatic Systems.

Responsibilities: The incumbent will be expected to develop a teaching program with a focus on the evaluation of the efficacy of conservation education strategies, curricula and programs, and the scholarship of teaching. Classroom teaching responsibilities will include 2-3 courses per year (at least one at the graduate level) related to conservation/environmental education. Additional activities will center on assessment of education programming to engage an array of publics in conservation action and advocacy. Student advising and serving on graduate committees is also expected. The Prairie Fork Conservation Area http://prairiefork.org/ (a site jointly administered by the School of Natural Resources and the Missouri Department of Conservation) will be used to facilitate teaching and outreach efforts.

Summary

Qualifications:  

Minimum Qualification:  A Ph.D. or Ed.D. in environmental/natural resources education, sustainability education, human dimensions of natural resources and/or a closely related education-focused discipline by the time of appointment. 

Candidates will be evaluated on:   1) Teaching experience, 2) experience working collaboratively with natural resource or conservation education agencies and organizations, 3) a record of extramural funding potential in support of strong research and/or outreach programs, and 4) strong verbal and written communication skills.
