Spring Environmental Education Intern 2024

At North Central 4-H Camp, we host overnight educational field trips for 4th and 5th grade youth focused around environmental, historical, and outdoor recreation concepts.  Educators can expect to interact with over 2,000 participants by facilitating several different classes designed to meet KY core content and Next Generation Science Standard Benchmarks.  Some examples of classes we teach frequently are: KY Mammals, Bird Identification and Adaptations, Lake Study (water quality analysis), Owl Pellet Dissection, Low Ropes (challenge course), Frontier Living, and Orienteering.

In addition to program facilitation, educators will also complete a project on a topic of interest, with the goal of creating a tangible/measurable product that can help make educators more marketable as they look at employment beyond their stay at NC.  Past projects have ranged from new classes to facility upgrades to researching grant and fundraising opportunities.  

This is a paid, live-in, 8-week position, March 11th- May 3rd, but can be lengthened to meet academic credit requirements.
