The PROS Deputy Director, GOL! will be responsible for the advancement of GOL!’s mission and vision as part of the greater PROS strategic vision. They will oversee the work of the GOL! team and help guide the overall strategic vision of PROS in Lake County. They will be charged with guiding GOL! into its next phase as an initiative of the PROS department, and will ensure that GOL! continues to be a high-impact, well-funded, mission-and-community-driven initiative.

Summary

Get Outdoors Leadville! (GOL!) is a grant-funded initiative of the PROS department working to expand equitable access to culturally informed and enriching outdoor experiences in Lake County. GOL! envisions a world where people of all identities, backgrounds, and abilities experience safety, wellness, and a sense of belonging in the natural world. General Duties and Responsibilities

Essential Functions

  • As a member of the PROS leadership team, help develop and support the long-term strategic vision of GOL! as well as the greater PROS department.
  • Lead GOL! staff through the transition into the PROS department utilizing change management best practices.
  • Collaborate with GOL! Grants & Finance Specialist and the PROS Director to develop program budgets and monitor on-going financials.
  • Collaborate with GOL! Grants & Finance Specialist and GOL! staff to monitor grant deliverables and measure and evaluate program impacts/outcomes.
  • Guide GOL! in achieving its mission and vision while remaining true to its core values.
  • Advance the long-term programmatic and financial sustainability of GOL!.
  • Establish GOL! as a leader in community-based, nature-inspired connections and culturally responsive outdoor experiences and education.
  • Support other PROS programs in increasing cultural responsiveness and expanding equity practices.
  • Serve as the spokesperson for GOL! and its mission, vision, and impacts to funders, partners, and the public. 
  • Establish and maintain relationships with current and potential funders.
  • Collaborate with the PROS Director and the Communication Director to promote GOL! and other PROS programs.
  • Manage staff in their implementation of programs.
  • Liaise with key Lake County groups and create bridges between GOL!’s work and mission-aligned initiatives.
  • Collaborate with partner organizations to leverage existing offerings and create new engaging and high-impact experiences for Lake County residents.
  • Identify and cultivate additional local partnerships to support GOL! program offerings.
  • Oversee or delegate projects, as needed.

Supervisory Responsibilities

  • Supervises all GOL! staff

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Outdoor Education, Environmental Education, Social Work, or related field.
  • Experience leading or supervising teams in an educational or outdoor setting. At least 3 years preferred.
  • Public speaking experience, especially giving engaging presentations to diverse audiences
  • Able to pass a federal and state background check in accordance with childcare laws.
  • Strong communication skills.
  • Experience in outdoor education, education administration and/or translatable skills/experience preferred
  • Expert skills in Microsoft Office Suite and Google Drive
  • Travel to conferences or events within and outside of the state of Colorado may be required.
  • Proficiency in English and Spanish strongly preferred.

Compensation Information

Hiring Range: $60,000-$65,000 annually
