Seeking a director for a Montessori and nature-based preschool that fosters independence, respect and curiosity in beautiful and lush Seaview Washinton on Washington States Long Beach Peninsula. Wave of the Future Preschool is guided by the principles of Montessori Education incorporating the benefits of outdoor learning and expression through the arts. We are passionate about connecting children to the outdoors, food, and working artists. We accept children ages 30 months to six years of age.

Summary

Please be encouraged to apply if you are not Montessori certified but are Montessori curious and have other relevant educational experience. This is an exciting opportunity for some who is passionate about authentic, process based, alternative early childhood education. An ideal candidate would be proactive in developing what is a new program. Housing is available for those that would be interested in relocating.

Must be reliable, trustworthy, and experienced with children.

Directors Duties:

  • Maintain & Develop programs/ecology curriculum based on the the mission/values of the preschool.
  • 20+ hours a week on site with additional work-from-home hours
  • On site hours will include time in the classroom in order to be aware of the needs of students, teachers, and guides.
  • Oversee Licensing process and maintain compliance.
  • Support teachers/guides with supplies/curriculum needs and their responsibilities.
  • Communicate with parents, both current and prospective.
  • Invoice parents and manage state funded reimbursements programs.
  • Coordinate staff licensing & training requirements including scheduling.
  • Maintain policies, health policies, and parent handbook
  • Manage staff with regular meetings, support hiring process, creating infrastructure as needed.
  • Substitute in the classroom when needed, develop enrichment curriculum.
  • Coordinate with other Sou'wester & Sou'wester Arts staff as needed.
  • Setting an excellent example for students and instilling good values in them like honesty, accountability, understanding, tolerance, respect, love, and kindness.
  • This is a hands on position with an option for housing available
  • Experience grant writing is a plus

Qualifications:

  • Experience with child-led programs, ideally an open-minded Montessori approach.
  • Very organized with the ability to navigate state agencies and their administrative requirements.
  • Effective at creating systems for families and staff that are collaborative and supportive and just while balancing a sustainable business plan.
  • Problem solver & community builder!

Requirements:

  • 2 years ECE classes.
  • Proficient with email, google documents and spreadsheets.
  • Ability to pass background check.
  • First Aid certification.
  • You will need to get current with DCYF requirements.

Compensation Information

Healthcare & relocation package. $24-$30 DOE with room to grow. With 2-bedroom apartment available at $800/mo
