Outdoor Nature Preschool Teacher

The Nature Preschool at GSES is looking for an assistant teacher for the '23-'24 school year. This position runs from September through May, with a few training days in August before classes begin. The position runs Monday through Friday, with hours on MWF from 9:00 to 2:15 and T/Th from 9:00 to 12:15. While the preschool is part of a larger Episcopal school, the preschool program is NOT faith-based. Our focus within the nature preschool is to facilitate nature connection, model pro-environmental behaviors and stewardship, and support whole-child growth with a strong emphasis on social and emotional learning. With the exception of afternoon rest time on MWF and the occasional stormy day, preschool classes take place outdoors throughout the year. Candidates must be comfortable being outside rain or shine, appreciate learning about local ecology and sharing that knowledge, have experience or an interest in gentle positive guidance for young children, have a wealth of patience and display calm when dealing with upset children, model pro-environmental attitudes and actions, and follow the ethics and best practices for teaching environmental education.
