Wahsega is a beautiful, rustic center nestled in the foothills of the Appalachian Mountains. Here is a great video that shows off some of our classes, facilities and the grounds for teachers and parents who have not been here before; https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fq4RgaQOTSU. We have some fantastic classes, and you can find their descriptions here: https://georgia4h.org/4-h-centers/wahsega-4-h-center/classes/.

Summary

Educate K-12 students on various subjects by utilizing activities with discussion.  Subjects include variations of interactive courses (e.g. archery and survival skills).  Visit https://georgia4h.org/4-h-centers/wahsega-4-h-center/classes/ for a complete list of our day courses.  Educators work flexible hours that primarily include teaching courses, typically in the day.  Occasional weekend work may be required. Care taking of the captive wildlife in the onsite herpetology lab as well as kitchen duties is shared among the 8 educators on staff. These responsibilities and duties will be covered in the included in-depth two-week training.

About the facility:

The Wahsega 4-H center is located at the foot of the Appalachian Trails in the beautiful Chattahoochee National Forest with a waterfall onsite. One of the nation’s largest residential environmental education programs, this center uses the outdoors to provide a classroom without walls for students grades K-12. Established in 1979, the Georgia 4-H program now has 5 successful state facilities serving more than 37,000 students each year.
