Being a part of the Margaret A. Davidson Graduate Fellowship provides opportunities to address today’s coastal challenges, develop marketable career skills, build a professional network, receive on-site mentor support, and partner with universities, coastal professionals, and local communities. All while working at one of the 30 coastal sites in the National Estuarine Research Reserve System.

Summary

The Margaret A. Davidson Graduate Fellowship is an exciting two-year fellowship program that provides the opportunity for graduate students to conduct collaborative research at one of the 30 national estuarine research reserves. Through a research project, fellows address a key reserve management need to help scientists and communities understand coastal challenges that may influence future policy and management strategies.

The research reserves represent the apex of estuary science. At these coastal sites, fieldwork, research, and community engagement come together to create the scientific advances that change our communities and our world.

Compensation Information

Pending congressional appropriations, NOAA anticipates an annual budget of up to $45,000 in direct costs. Direct costs should support the fellows and their research and may include stipend, supplies, travel, and tuition.

Students who participate in the Margaret A. Davidson Graduate Fellowship can also become eligible for a noncompetitive direct hiring authority at NOAA. Visit this website for more information about what this means.
