Summary
The Land Between the Lakes Association invites applications for the position of Entry Level Interpreter at the Woodlands Nature Station, a nature center in Land Between the Lakes National Recreation Area that is home to over 45 species of native wildlife including birds of prey, bobcat, and endangered red wolves.
Qualification: Applicant possessing 4-year college degree and some related experience preferred. Applicant possessing National Association for Interpretation credential Certified Interpretive Guide or Certified Heritage Interpreter preferred but not required.
Duties performed in this position include, but are not limited to development and delivery of interpretive programs for a diverse audience base including senior adults, adults, older children, and younger children; organize and conduct curriculum based educational programs for school groups; plan and lead outdoor excursions including canoe/kayak trips, wildlife viewing van / boat tours, campground presentations, nature walks, stream strolls, and similar activities; care and upkeep of live wildlife exhibits including raptors, reptiles, wolves, and 40 other native wildlife species; plan and maintain native plant gardens; facility based interpretation in a variety of settings which are planned and executed in an appropriate manner using appropriate materials and themes. Selected person serves as host to visitors, carrying out a variety of duties related to sharing necessary information with the visitor to Land Between the Lakes. Selected person should possess a helper spirit to support the extended staff of the NS in its efforts to serve the public. The successful candidate must be available for varied schedule with weekend and holiday work, have a warm and enthusiastic demeanor, must be team-oriented, and quality customer service driven. Applicants should be able to demonstrate knowledge and proficiency with the following: generally accepted Interpretation techniques and positive customer service techniques.
Hourly wage is $14.30 per hour plus paid time off and health reimbursement at a set rate/month (no health insurance provided).
