Position Summary: The Youth and Family Coordinator is responsible for the planning and implementation for all Youth and Family community-based programs (youth, family and services programs). This position is responsible for the planning and coordination of new and existing programs, developing curriculum, supporting marketing, and leading communication with all stakeholders - internal and external.

This position is responsible for the planning and coordination of new and existing programs, developing curriculum, supporting marketing, and leading communication with all stakeholders - internal and external.  

Essential Functions:

  • Program Development Growth: Scout Programs, Family Nature Clubs
  • Support Program Goals, Planning & Curriculum for the Following: Scout Programs, Family Nature Clubs, Birthday Parties, Family Yoga
  • Special Classes and Workshops,
  • Family programming - Family Nature Club, Low Sensory Mornings, Flashlight Tours, World Conservation Days, Community Fairs, etc.
  • On-site community Youth programming- Scouts, Student Art Show, etc.
  • New programs to be developed quarterly based on community needs analysis.

 

Qualifications:

  • College degree in education, environmental sciences, biology or related fields or equitable experience
  • Excellent customer service and communication skills
  • Organized and flexible
  • Computer proficiency-word processing, spreadsheets and databases, website management
  • Solution-oriented, ability to troubleshoot
  • Enthusiastic and patient
  • Comfortable interacting with people of all ages

Experience:

  • 2 years of experience working in a non-formal education/museum setting
  • At least 1-year supervisory experience
  • Prior experience in a customer service based and/or administrative role
  • Prior experience with curriculum development and instruction
  • Prior experience working in a team setting and with volunteers
  • Prior experience working with individuals of different ages and abilities

Additional Duties:

  • Attend required branch and facility meetings and trainings
  • Collaborate with other Butterfly Pavilion Departments to ensure organizational cohesion
  • Cross-train to provide program support in other areas of branch as necessary
  • Support the education and interpretation component of organization-wide events alongside other departments
  • Work with Marketing and Guest Services Department to market community programs
  • Utilize and troubleshoot Butterfly Pavilion Systems to manage programmatic and administrative operations

The employee is occasionally required to reach with arms and hands, climb or balance, and to stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl. Vision abilities required by this job include close vision. Employee should be able to lift, carry and items up to 50 lbs.

Compensation Information

$19 - $22 hourly
