Summary
Florida 4-H AmeriCorps members will help to book, organize, deliver, and evaluate environmental educational programs using Florida 4-H Environmental Education curriculum. These programs will be taught both on-site at the Florida 4-H camps and off-site at schools, community events, and 4-H activities. There are two Florida 4-H camps where AmeriCorps may serve – 4-H Camp Timpoochee (Niceville, FL) and 4-H Camp Cloverleaf (Lake Placid, FL). AmeriCorps members will be serving from one of these locations both on-site and off-site within their communities.
We are currently seeking Full-Time members to serve 1700 hours from August 2023 thru July 31st, 2024. The schedule will typically be M-F 8 -5. Some nights and weekend work.
Skills Preferred
- Experience teaching pre-designed environmental education curricula to a variety of ages and abilities
- Effective oral communication with both large and small groups
- Effective written communication
- Customer service
- Experience working with youth
- Knowledge, experience and/or interest in teaching environmental education
4-H is the nation’s largest youth development organization. There are 6.5 million young people in grades K-12 enrolled in the 4-H programs across America and approximately 200,000 within the State of Florida. This non-formal, practical educational program for youth is the youth development program of Florida Cooperative Extension – part of the University of Florida IFAS. The Florida 4-H Youth Development Program uses a learn-by-doing approach and caring adults to help youth gain the knowledge and life skills they need to be productive, responsible citizens.

How to apply:
High School diploma or its equivalent is minimum requirements. Preferred qualification is a bachelor’s degree, or an equivalent combination of education and relevant experience, in sciences, education, natural resources, youth development, recreational leadership or other related fields is required. Must pass a Background Screening prior to hire. Valid driver’s license preferred.
