We are hiring an Assistant Camp Director to join our energetic education team at the farm. The Assistant Camp Director contributes to the preparation and delivery of our Summer Explorers Camp program. This position will begin in June 2023 and is well suited to someone who enjoy the outdoors and has a talent for teaching and inspiring curiosity in others!

Summary

Stony Kill Foundation oversees the daily operations and community programming at the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation (NYSDEC) owned Stony Kill Farm Environmental Education Center in Dutchess County, NY. Our mission is to educate the public and cultivate environmental stewardship through interpretation of the rich historical, environmental and agricultural heritage of Stony Kill Farm. Over 19,000 people visit the 1000-acre farm each year, participating in our signature environmental education programs, growing fruits and veggies in the community garden, hiking the trails, and enjoying the outdoors. The beautiful Stony Kill Farm is a place where people from all walks of life can slow down, admire the scenery, and connect with the environment.

We are hiring an Assistant Camp Director to join our energetic education team at the farm. The Assistant Camp Director contributes to the preparation and delivery of our Summer Explorers Camp program. This position will begin in June 2023 and is well suited to someone who enjoy the outdoors and has a talent for teaching and inspiring curiosity in others!

Responsibilities include: • Assistant Camp Director in the overall management of camp by directing the day-today operations of camp, supervising staff, coordinating camp schedules, and assisting with administrative work. • Assume duties and responsibilities of the Camp Director during their absence • Assist the Camp Director in carrying out camp staff orientation and training. • Attend a day long camp staff training. • Explain and enforce the policies, traditions, and rules of camp. • Manage interpersonal and operational conflicts amongst campers, counselors and other members of the camp community. • Assume responsibility for the safety and well-being of campers  • Organize and prepare environmental and agricultural activities and lessons for the 8- week Summer Explorers Camp program. • Assist in the evaluation and record keeping of staff and campers. • Be an active member of the camp community by participating in camp programming including hikes, barn chores, etc. • Be totally familiar with emergency procedures and follow them when necessary. • Additional responsibilities as needed and assigned.

Desired Qualifications: • Background in teaching, environmental sciences, or related. • Enthusiasm to learn, explore, and teach! • CPR/First Aid certification a plus.

Compensation Information

· Pay rate: $16.50/hour for 37.5 hours/week

· Must have own transportation.
