Job Description:
Being a naturalist at Camp Ocean Pines is a multifaceted role. You're an educator, a mentor, a nature enthusiast, a bird caretaker, and so much more. The core of what we do is provide enriching experiences in nature with children and teens. By engaging participants in the natural world, we strive to cultivate care and understanding for the communities and environments we inhabit.

We are searching for people who are compassionate, responsible, and thoughtful instructors who encourage kids to be their best selves, no matter who that is. We strive to hire diverse staff members with an array of interests, talents, and backgrounds. We're excited to learn what unique qualities you'll bring to camp!
Specifics of the job include:
- Manage a group of 10-15 students
- Facilitate hikes, tide pooling, kayaking trips, and instructional lessons
- Adapt content and teaching strategies to best meet the diverse needs of our participants
- Care for onsite birds of prey, reptiles, and amphibians
- Communicate with teachers and coworkers to provide flexible programming
Naturalists receive a starting wage of $17/hour with the possibility of overtime. Room and board is available for $50/week. Camp Ocean Pines is located in Cambria, California, a small town along the Central Coast nestled between Big Sur and Santa Barbara.

Compensation Information
Naturalists earn $17-19/hr with the possibility of overtime pay. Pay starts at $17/hour with additional compensation for Spanish or ASL fluency or raptor experience.
