Summary
The Children’s Museum has an opening for a Seasonal Outdoor Experience Specialist to ensure a consistently safe, enjoyable and educational experience for all Museum guests in our outdoor exhibits, Joy Park and Adventure Forest. Alongside the Outdoor Experience Coordinator, the Seasonal Outdoor Experience Specialist is responsible for maintaining daily operations and works with a team to deliver the Museum’s mission through facilitation, programming and nature-based play experiences. Employees of the Children’s Museum are ambassadors of the Museum’s mission and brand, and commit to creating experiences for guests that are inspiring, curious, welcoming, playful, inventive and expert in nature.

The Children’s Museum has an opening for a Seasonal Outdoor Experience Specialist to ensure a consistently safe, enjoyable and educational experience for all Museum guests in our outdoor exhibits, Joy Park and Adventure Forest. Alongside the leadership of the Outdoor Experience Coordinator, the Seasonal Outdoor Experience Specialist is responsible for maintaining daily operations and works with a team to deliver the Museum’s mission through facilitation, programming and nature-based play experiences. Hours: This is a seasonal position, 24 hours per week, with a Friday-Sunday schedule, with additional hours as needed to meet business needs for occasional evenings, holidays and events.
Rate: $19.50/hour (additional $1/hour for Bilingual proficiency)

Responsibilities:
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. - Model outdoor experience facilitation, operations and guest service for staff and volunteers in the space
- Cross-train to support other exhibit spaces as needed.
- Develop and facilitate programs and experiences for public guests within Joy Park and Adventure Forest in alignment with the Museum’s mission that highlight the importance of open-ended, explorative, nature and play-based learning.
- Develop and implement programs based off community partnership and sponsor commitments.
- Collect and track data related to attendance and evaluation for Joy Park and Adventure Forest.
- Manage storage of outdoor consumables, supplies, appliances, tools and equipment and ensure they meet educational goals.
- Implement safety and security protocols, including evacuation procedures and severe weather policies.
- Support outdoor seasonality initiative, and collaborate with the Outdoor Experience Coordinator and Teaching Kitchen staff to ensure maintenance and program development in conjunction with our garden.
Requirements
- At least 18 years of age
- Fluent English proficiency, strong writing and public speaking skills
- Spanish speaking and comprehension skills strongly desired
- Infant-Child First Aid and CPR certified or willingness to become certified
- Experience in customer service and/or hospitality, early childhood or related field
- Experience in planning and/or facilitating outdoor and nature-based educational experiences for children and families
