Summary
The Department of Human Services invites applications for a 9-month renewable fixed term instructor or assistant professor of practice (for candidates with a terminal degree) position in the Parks and Recreation Management program beginning August 1, 2023. Review of applications will begin on April 17th, 2023 and continue until position is filled.
Duties and responsibilities:
- Support the vision and mission of the Parks and Recreation Management Program
- Develop and deliver courses within the Parks and Recreation Management Program
- 4/4 teaching load (with additional opportunities to teach in the summer)
- Mentor and advise students
- Provide service to the university, profession, and community
- Maintain currency in the academic discipline through continuing education, research; and/or participation in activities within the program/profession, including involvement within professional organizations at the state, regional, and national levels
- Work cooperatively and collegially with all faculty and staff in the PRM Program and across the institution
- Carry out other assignments and duties as assigned by the PRM Program Director.

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities Required for this Position
Minimum Qualifications
- Master’s degree in Parks and Recreation Management or related field
- Demonstrated professional experience in community recreation & youth development
- Previous teaching experience in above content areas.
Preferred Qualifications
- Ph.D. in Parks and Recreation Management or related field
- Ability to teach a graduate-level youth development course
- Teaching and advising in higher education
- Knowledge of diversity & social justice best practices in parks and recreation management
- Evidence of networking expertise for partnering with local, state and national agencies and their professional organizations
